AUDIO
The Audio department at Fearplay is responsible for creating the soundscape of our games. This includes composing original soundtracks and designing immersive sound effects that enhance atmosphere, gameplay, and storytelling.
Roles in this area include Composers, who create the musical score, and Sound Designers, who craft sound effects and Foley.

Composer
The Composer creates the musical identity of Fearplay, shaping emotion, tension, and atmosphere through sound. This role focuses on crafting music that enhances immersion and supports the psychological horror experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Compose original music for gameplay, environments, and key moments
- Support atmosphere and tension through adaptive and immersive soundtracks
- Collaborate with Sound Designers and the broader team to align audio with gameplay and narrative
- Explore dynamic or reactive music systems where appropriate
- Help define the musical tone and identity of the project
- Iterate on compositions based on feedback and playtesting
Ideal Skills & Qualities
- Interest in composing music for games, especially horror and atmospheric genres
- Basic experience with digital audio workstations (DAWs) or music production tools
- Curiosity about how music influences emotion, tension, and pacing
- Interest in ambient, experimental, or tension-driven sound design
- Familiarity with game audio implementation or Unreal Engine is a plus, but not required
- Willingness to learn, experiment, and collaborate with the team

Audio Programmer
The Audio Programmer connects Fearplay’s sound and music systems with gameplay. This role focuses on implementing and supporting audio systems that enhance immersion, responsiveness, and atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement audio systems and features in Unreal Engine 5
- Support the integration of sound effects, music, and voice into gameplay
- Work with Sound Designers and the Composer to realize the audio vision
- Help create dynamic and reactive audio systems (e.g. adaptive music, spatial audio)
- Optimize audio performance and ensure consistency across the game
- Debug and maintain audio-related systems
Ideal Skills & Qualities
- Interest in audio programming and interactive sound systems
- Basic understanding of C++, Blueprints, or similar scripting approaches
- Curiosity about how sound and music respond to player actions
- Interest in immersion, spatial audio, and horror atmosphere
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 audio tools or middleware (e.g. Wwise, FMOD) is a plus, but not required
- Willingness to learn, experiment, and collaborate with the team
