ART
The Art department at Fearplay is responsible for the visual creation and artistic direction of our games. The team designs and produces environments, characters, lighting, and visual assets that bring our worlds to life and support the overall atmosphere and style of each project.
Roles in this area include Environment Artists, Character Artists, Lighting Artists, Technical Artists, and Pixel Artists.

3D Artist / Modeler
The 3D Artist / Modeler creates the assets that bring Fearplay’s world to life. This role focuses on modeling props, environments, and objects that support atmosphere, storytelling, and immersion.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models for props, environments, and in-game assets
- Support the visual identity and atmosphere through asset creation
- Prepare models for use in Unreal Engine 5 (optimization, basic setup)
- Collaborate with Environment Artists, Level Designers, and Technical Artists
- Contribute to visual storytelling through detailed and intentional asset design
- Iterate on assets based on feedback and project needs
Ideal Skills & Qualities

Environment Artist
The Environment Artist designs and builds the locations where Fearplay’s stories unfold. These environments play a key role in establishing atmosphere, tension, and visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities

- Design immersive locations and spaces within Unreal Engine 5
- Support environmental storytelling through composition, lighting, and detail
- Collaborate with Level Designers, Lighting Artists, and 3D Artists

Technical Artist
The Technical Artist bridges the gap between art and programming at Fearplay. This role focuses on ensuring that visual assets work efficiently within the engine while supporting the team with tools, workflows, and technical solutions.

- Help optimize assets for performance and visual quality
- Create and maintain materials, shaders, and visual setups

Character Artist

Creature Artist
The Creature Artist is responsible for creating the entities that embody fear within Fearplay. This role focuses on designing unsettling, memorable creatures that enhance atmosphere, tension, and psychological impact.

- Create concepts, references, or base models for implementation
- Support the visual and thematic identity of creatures within the game world

VFX Artist
The VFX Artist enhances Fearplay’s atmosphere through visual effects that amplify tension, mood, and immersion. This role focuses on creating effects that support horror, from subtle environmental details to impactful supernatural moments.

- Create visual effects such as particles, fog, lighting effects, and environmental details
- Support atmosphere and tension through subtle and impactful VFX
- Implement and iterate on effects within Unreal Engine 5 (e.g. Niagara)

The Animator brings Fearplay’s characters and creatures to life through movement. This role focuses on creating animations that enhance immersion, convey emotion, and build tension through motion.

UI Artist

The Lighting Artist shapes the mood and atmosphere of Fearplay through light and shadow. This role focuses on creating tension, guiding player attention, and enhancing the emotional impact of environments.

The Concept Artist defines the visual foundation of Fearplay by creating designs that guide characters, environments, and creatures. This role focuses on translating ideas into strong visual concepts that shape the game’s atmosphere and identity.

- Support the visual direction and tone of the project
