About the Game

Hope’s End is a story-driven psychological horror prototype developed in RPG Maker MZ. Set in the rural landscapes of northern Pennsylvania during 1983, the game follows Elaine Callahan, an 18-year-old high school graduate searching for her missing older sister, Maureen.

Determined to uncover the truth, Elaine sets out alone after receiving no satisfying answers from those around her. However, during her journey through the remote countryside, her car suddenly begins to shake before breaking down beside an unnamed creek at the entrance to the isolated village of Hope Creek.

According to the last known clues, Maureen should have passed through this village not long ago.

Surely someone here must have seen her.

Perhaps it all begins with a hesitant “Excuse me, please…” – and the hope that someone in Hope Creek remembers seeing Maureen.

Throughout the prototype, players explore Hope Creek, speak with its peculiar residents, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover clues spread across two interconnected realities. Every discovery raises new questions, encouraging players to piece together the village’s secrets for themselves.

About the Game

Hope’s End was developed by Kjeld Stormarnson and Lunaria, members of the hobby game development team Fearplay, during the Gamepathy Game Jam 2026, held from June 15 to June 28, 2026.

Originally created as a two-week game jam prototype for exhibition at Gamescom 2026Hope’s End represents the foundation of a much larger vision. The project has officially been added to Fearplay’s internal development backlog, with plans to further expand its world, narrative, gameplay systems, audiovisual presentation, and overall polish in the future.

Development logs, soundtrack releases, behind-the-scenes content, and future updates will be shared through Fearplay’s official channels as the project continues to evolve.

Thank you for taking your first steps into Hope Creek.

Perhaps, somewhere beyond the fog, the last small spark of hope is still waiting to be found.
